Taste the World on Washtenaw Ave

Embracing Our Differences Michigan is excited to share highlights from our recent Washtenaw Avenue Dine & Donate restaurant series. Over the past few months, we gathered at locally-owned restaurants to enjoy delicious cuisine from around the world while building community and sparking meaningful conversations across cultures. Read on for recaps of our visits to China Palace, Cuppy’s Soul Food, and Casablanca.

China Palace

Members of the Michigan Taiwanese Association joined Embracing Our Differences Michigan for a shared meal and community gathering at China Palace. Manager Theresa Yang and the restaurant’s owner were gracious hosts for the evening, generously supporting our Dine & Donate fundraiser. Guests enjoyed authentic Chinese dishes while making new connections.

Cuppy’s Best Soul Food

Cuppy’s Best welcomed us for our 2nd successful Dine and Donate event. Owner Andrea Thomas treated guests to a wonderful meal while sharing the rich history and cultural significance behind soul food. We are grateful to Andrea, her staff, and all who attended for fostering community over comfort cuisine.

Casablanca

Moroccan flavors took center stage at our 3rd Dine and Donate hosted by Casablanca. Owner Mohamad Thaher Mohamad provided insight into the origins and meaning of Moroccan cuisine while guests savored a delightful meal. Many thanks to Mohamad and the Casablanca team for their hospitality and to all who joined us for the event.
